Did you know?

Lilacs are a member of the olive family.

You can preserve lilac blossoms longer by cutting and stripping off the bark and then pulverizing the bottom bit of the stalk (up to 1-2 inches) this opens up the woody structure enough for water to be more easily taken up and will help keep the flowers fresh for weeks.

In China, it is used externally to help treat frostbite.

Lilac blossoms and leaves make a delicate-tasting tea with a wonderful scent useful for calming nerves and soothing stubborn coughs.
