Corn (maize) is believed to have been domesticated in Mexico over 9000 years ago. The long shiny fibers at the top of an ear of corn are called corn silk. Its been used as a medicine by native tribes of the Americas and in China for a long, long time. It is considered a soothing diuretic wonderful for treating bladder infections and kidney stones as it rapidly eases pain and aids healing.
