Yellow dock is native to Europe, Asia, and North America. It grows well in most climatic conditions but is found primarily in the temperate climates of Asia, Europe, North America, and Northern Africa.

It is the herb of choice for treating a wide range of conditions associated with liver or bowel dysfunction. A tonic herb, it is also used to treat and purify the digestive, blood, and lymphatic systems.

Yellow dock is considered one of the safest laxative herbs available. It’s a good herb for treating mild constipation or bowel sluggishness, especially when used over a longer period.

In Europe, it is cultivated as a vegetable. The leaves can be cooked and added to soups, and the roots can be used as a coffee substitute. Native Americans have used the herb as a food, medicine, and as a purifier for sacred ceremonies.
