Botanical Name: Western – Algae/Laminariales (brown algae family), Ascophyllum nodosum. Eastern – Saccharina japonica.
Kelp is loaded with nutritional value and powerful antioxidants that support health and proper development. It is particularly high in iodine, a compound that helps regulate thyroid function which in turn impacts hormonal health and proper metabolism. Too much or too little iodine is harmful and can cause significant health issues. Kelp has long been enjoyed as a culinary herb and for its medicinal properties. In Oriental Medicine it is famous for Clearing Heat and Resolving Phlegm.
