Scorpion (Quan Xie) are highly nutritious. Fried scorpion is a traditional dish from the Shangdong area of China. Scorpion water and alcohol extract can inhibit the growth of human hepatoma cells and colon cells. Scorpions are famous for their ability to treat seizures and tremors, including strokes, convulsions, epilepsy and tetanus. In Chinese Medicine, they are said to stop pain, counteract toxic substances and eliminate stagnation. In Mexico and Central and Southern North America, the local species is Centruoides gracilis, also of the Buthidae family, and is often called the “Bark Scorpion.” Many cultures view the scorpion as a protector against evil.
