Sumac is a plant popularly used in both Western and Eastern herbalism. In the West, Rhus typhina, is the commonly used variety of sumac, though there are other varieties that are also used. And in the East, in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), R. chinensis is used. Another variety of sumac is poisonous.
