Bergamot Orange (Citrus aurantium, C. bergamia) is often confused with bergamot, as in bee balm (Monarda fistulosa). They are two entirely different plants.
While bergamot orange rind can be used to make teas, it is bergamot oil that is most commonly used medicinally. The essential oil is made from the rind of bergamot orange and is used to quickly heal wounds, cracked skin, scars, ulcers, and eczema.
Bergamot tea or the essential oil can also treat convulsions, and cramps, promote digestion, and tonify the respiratory, digestive, circulatory, and nervous systems.
