A new herb has been added to our Herb Directory, Angelica (Dang Gui).
There are many species of Angelica. Certain species can be confused with Hemlock which is poisonous and whose leaves smell foul when crushed. Angelica’s leaves are not foul smelling. So be aware!!! The peeled boiled roots of Norwegian Angelica (A. archangelica) are edible. Most species are strongly medicinal. Angelica is said to symbolize ecstasy, inspiration and magic.
