Angelica is the most highly regarded blood tonic in Asia and is used by both men and women. It is also revered in the West for its blood-healing attributes, from anemia to heart problems, to menses. It is recognized worldwide as one of the great cure-all herbs.
It has a distinct scent, with traditional herbalists comparing its scent to musk or juniper; even the roots are fragrant. It is said that deer and fish are attracted to the plant’s scent, making it useful as bait.
The roots need to be dried quickly and sealed in air-tight containers to maintain their medicinal values for many years.
