Piperine is not excellent at preserving meats, salt is, though pepper has been used to mask the smells and taste of meat that is old and beginning to turn. Piperine does increase the bioavailability of important dietary compounds, vitamins, minerals and even certain drugs, such as curcumin. Piperine does increase the production of adrenalin helping the body to manage stress. Piperine does have thermogenic properties that increase the body’s basal metabolic rate helping to maintain a healthy weight. Piperine also helps support the digestive system.
